“Après la pluie” is the wall I’ve made for JIDAR TOILES DE RUE Street Art Festival in Rabat. It is my vision of a typical scene from a door in the Medina. I have always been fascinated by Morocco and its culture. A country where there are still certain moments, certain images that transport you to another era. During my travels, it comforts me to find places where the day to day dutie and the handcraft prevail. A place not invaded by new technologies, which continues to flow and grow at the pace of past generations, maintaining its essence and its culture.
Many of my favorite painters are Expressionists. For example, Matisse who painted several paintings about Morocco. You can look at a landscape captured by Matisse and today see that same scene that he painted so many years ago. For me “Après la pluie”, is an ode to the Moroccan culture, to the style and rhythm of life that the people who live there have. A landscape full of color, interlaced through different planes where many things are happening at the same time. It is a snapshot of a day in the Medina.
